I bought the Vortex Fury 8×42 binoculars about a year ago after pretty extensive research into medium-priced binoculars with very good ratings. I use them for birding and because of their excellent eye relief of 21mm I am finally able to see the entire field with glasses on.
The image quality is extremely good for a binocular in this price range, with bright, true-color images.
These are solid, well-constructed binoculars with a nice dark green rubberized coating. Here are some features I like: Excellent field of view of 357 feet at 1000 yards; very close focus to around 6 feet; fully multi-coated lenses and silver coated prisms to increase light transmission; diopter adjustment wheel is located next to the focus knob, making adjustments very easy; twist-down eye cups with 3-position notches; large, easy to turn focus knob; objective lens caps are tethered to the end of the lens and easy to flip down; lifetime warranty by Vortex.
They are also waterproof and fogproof. I understand Vortex has discontinued this and other models but they are still available from several web sites. Price ranges from around $300 to over $500. Most places charge around $350, which is what I paid a year ago.
I would definitely recommend these binoculars for birding or other outdoor uses. I consider them to be an excellent value for the money and can’t find anything wrong with them at all.
